The Price College of Engineering (PCE) has a strict policy on how a course may be repeated for credit, and the Kahlert School of Computing (the School) enforces this policy for students pursuing the SD degree.
Any course may be taken at most twice, and any grade, including a W, counts as an attempt. Two unsuccessful attempts results in probation. See the full PCE policy for details.
Additionally, courses taken at the University of Utah may not be taken a second time at another institution.
For some cases in which a non-academic emergency has prevented a student from completing a course successfully in two attempts, a third attempt may be accepted for credit towards the software development degree. To petition for such an exception, a student should write a formal letter to the School Undergraduate Committee, ensuring that it meets these requirements:
Students who are found to be enrolled in a course for a third attempt without approval may be removed after the start of classes or may find the course not considered toward degree status.
Appeals for Fall semester must be submitted before August 15.
Appeals for Spring semester must be submitted before Jan 1.
