The College of Engineering (CoE) has a strict policy on how a course may be repeated for credit, and the School of Computing enforces this policy for students pursuing the computer science degree.
Additionally, courses taken at the University of Utah may not be taken a second time at another institution.
For some cases in which a non-academic emergency has prevented a student from completing a course successfully in two attempts, a third attempt may be accepted for credit towards the computer science degree. To petition for such an exception, a student should write a formal letter to the School of Computing Undergraduate Committee, ensuring that it meets these requirements:
Students who are found to be enrolled in a course for a third attempt without approval may be removed after the start of classes or may find the course not considered toward degree status.
